Digital Scrapbooking - Creating Scrapbook Sheets
When you decide to do digital scrapbooking instead of the traditional way, then why not also create your own premade digital scrapbook layouts? This is what I started doing and it is so much fun! Before you start, you need to decide what you are going to create; a sheet, a card. Using my favorite program Paint Shop, I first create a new image. For a A4-size paper you will need a size of 680 pixels width by 1000 pixels height. When using a different size of paper, you will have to alter these sizes. However, it is a good idea to start large, then you can always resize it later on.
	In Paint Shop you have the option to use a color for background, but also whatever image you have on your pc; it even works with photos! You have to try out different things and sizes to see what works best as a background. Sometimes it will be necessary to first blur the image before using it as background. For this to work, you will need to open the image or photo of your choice in Paint Shop before you start. Now start with a new image in the size you like, and click on the paintbucket tool. Now select "style/pattern" which then opens a screen with thumbnails of possible background images. But, the image or photo that is waiting on your desktop is now also a choice, and since this is the one we want to use, we select it.
You can alter the scale or rotation if needed, but I always start with the image as it is. If I don't like the result, I undo it and start over. Like mentioned before, you need to play around with this for a while, because not everything is suitable for use as background image, and some need to be resized so they fit better on your page. We now have created a new sheet and included our background and you may want to save this to your computer for future use. Use these sheets to either insert your photos digitally, or use the backgrounds as such, print them and then use them in for traditional scrapbooking by adding photos and other embelishments.
